July 5 Recap

  • We simply have the best volunteers anywhere! Even on a Holiday weekend they are awesome.
  • Phillip and the band sounded great. A special thanks to Joel for coming and working some of the kinks out of our system. With a couple of minor changes, our sound quality should greatly improve.
  • The message was on sexual immorality. God’s will is that we don’t engage in sex outside of marriage. There are no exceptions. Even King David, a man after God’s own heart, did not qualify as an exception. If everyone would commit to memory the three main points of the message then a lot of heart ache could be avoided.
  • We will celebrate our second anniversary as a church on August 9. Also, we are looking at having another baptismal service and new member class in the near future (stay tuned for details).
  • College Bible study will meet at our house on Tuesday, July 7. We will begin at 7:00 and end when everyone leaves.

Summit Update

  • I have been a little late with my blogging.
  • Church attendance has been surprisingly consistent during the summer. Last week was a little slim, but overall it has been good.
  • Kevin Neufeld preached last Sunday. It’s great to have a guy like Kevin who can step up and deliver.
  • Me and my family spent last week on Saint Simons Island. I got a bruised cheek, a bad sunburn and I almost broke my finger. Other than all that, it was probably our best family vacation  ever.
  • We are approaching the two year mark as a church. I think the two year mark is extremely important. It is definitely a milestone.
  • I am looking forward to this Sunday. One week away is enough.

June 7 Recap

  • Great atmosphere  in our service this morning. I thought that it was our best worship service yet. The band was on. I felt a tremendous freedom delivering the message. I loved it!
  • We had a good offering for the second week in a row. I am constantly reminded that God owns everything. He just lets us play with it for a few years and then somebody else gets it.
  • I feel like God has a great purpose for Summit Church. It’s exciting to see the lives that have been changed.
  • We are going to have a college Bible study at our house on Tuesday, June 7, at 7:00pm. College students have so much energy and so many questions. It should be interesting!
  • It seems like everyone is settling in to a Summer schedule. However, I believe God is going to do some wonderful stuff in the next few months. Hold on!

May 24 Recap

  • Overall, it was a good day. We had more people than I was expecting for a Memorial Day Weekend.
  • As always, our volunteers did a wonderful job with set up and tear down.
  • Our giving has been down for the last several weeks. I think the downturn in the economy is finally catching up with us.
  • Next Sunday the message will be on love. It’s the greatest virtue that anyone can have.

May 17 Recap

  • We had a good day. Several of our regulars were out. They are incredible volunteers and we missed them. However, others stepped up and did a great job.
  • We started to record our sevices on HD. We have a few kinks to work out but I am confident that no camcorder is too much for Phillip to handle.
  • The message was on the subject of faith. It meant a lot to me. I needed it.
  • We continue to look for a permanent location.
  • I am excited about the future of Summit.

May 10 Recap

  • We had a solid day. We had several first time visitors and some were back for a second visit.
  • I thought the band sounded great.
  • I was a little nervous about the message. Any time I speak about the differences between men and women  I try extra hard to be careful with my words. Overall, I thought the message was well received.
  • Last Wednesday night we had the most youth ever for our Bible study. I think there were around 35. Shelley and Phillip continue to do an awesome job with the students.
  • We are still open to finding a permanent location. However, nothing has come available at this time but we keep looking.

may 3 recap

  • I missed blogging last week.
  • Great day today. Attendance was around 150
  • The band sounded amazing as always. We had a new drummer, Ryan, who did great.
  • The message today was for dads.  It was a challenge preparing it. As much as I love my 4 kids, I know I could do a better job.
  • We had a baptismal service and cook out at Hunter Park after the worship service. Public baptism is awesome! We have baptized in a lake, a swimming pool and a portable baptistry. I love it!
  • I think our small group last Wednesday night was the best one yet. I look forward to meeting with my small group every Wednesday night. It ’s a great mid week pick-me-up.
  • Our Wednesday night Youth Bible Study had about 30 students at it this past week. Shelley and Phillip are doing a wonderful job.

Sunday April 19 Recap

  • Phillip and the band did a fantastic job leading worship today.
  • Our computer didn’t show up for worship, so we had no lyrics or Scripture verses on the big screen. Jimmy and his family were fighting a virus all night and he went to sleep about 5am and he did not set an alarm. I’m just glad he wasn’t dead somewhere!
  • As Always, our nursery and children’s workers did a great job. These folks are awesome!
  • We had 2 families worship with us for the first time.
  • We have several scheduled for our baptismal sevice on May 3.
  • Next Sunday’s message will be about family finances. We’re gonna talk about “How to make it with what we’ve got.”

Easter Recap

  • I was out of town at Saint Simons most of last week so I have not posted in a while.
  • Easter Sunday was great! We had our second largest crowd ever. Our volunteers were wonderful. We had a lot of new faces.
  • Special thanks to Debbie West for taking family Easter pictures. We’ll have them developed and ready for pick up next Sunday.
  • The guys in the band sounded great. I think a little recording may be in their future.
  • I was a little surprised that Regal Cinema had early movies today on Easter. I don’t think they did a lot of business.
  • We are planning an  outdoor baptism on May 3 at Hunter Park.
  • Next Sunday we are beginning our Summit Family Stimulus Plan series. I am looking forward to it.

March 29 Recap

  • Great day of worship. Phillip T. did his best job ever leading worship. I loved the songs. The guys in the band were on. It all made for a great time of worship
  • We had a lot of children in the Cove today.
  • Our members and attenders were encouraged to invite atleast 3 people each for Easter. I think Easter Sunday is going to be our greatest day ever at Summit. I see no reason why we can’t have 300.
  • The small group I lead is about to embark on some serious outreach.
  • Looking forward to our outdoor baptismal service on May 3.
  • Next Sunday we’re going to observe the Lord’s Supper during our worship service. It’s gonna be a little different, but I think it will be a great way to prepare our hearts for Easter.
  • Special thanks to Tommy and Serena King. Their family went above and beyond this past Sunday. Thanks!
  • I spoke last Saturday at a retreat for the Seniors at Harvester Christian School. We met at a beautiful location in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I wish I could have stayed longer.
