Sunday Recap
Saturday Night
I love Saturday nights. It’s a good time to just chill out. UCLA is playing Xavier in the NCAA tournament. Being a UGA grad, I have to root for the Bruins since Xavier put the Dawgs out of the tournament.
Stephanie made some chocolate chip cookies. The kids are all relaxing. Our dog Roady is behaving himself. I’m all ready for a great day tomorrow. Life is good!
Dairy Diary
The trip to Cagle’s Dairy was interesting. We saw how they raise’em, wash’em, milk’em, feed’em and herd’em up. When you really think about where milk comes from, it’s not all that appetizing. It’s really kind of gross. After seeing everything, I kind of wondered if I would ever feel the same about milk. Even though they stressed over and over how sanitary everything is that they do, it still looks like they are getting liquid intended for a farm animal to drink. However, as we were leaving, they gave us a carton of milk to drink. I chose chocolate. It was udderly delicious. I don’t care where it comes from. The milk tastes great.
Gotta go milk a cow
I’m gonna milk a cow today. It’s Field Trip Day! On Fridays, Stephanie usually plans a field trip with our seven year old son, Stephen. Our older three kids go to Harvester Christian Academy. Stephen is homeschooled. We have been to the puppet show in Atlanta, Underground Atlanta, the Cyclorama, Pickett’s Mill, Sweetwater Creek State Park, the Cowboy Museum in Cartersville, Georgia’s Mineral Museum etc. etc. etc. Today, it’s cow milking time at Cagle’s Dairy. I hope it’s chocolate.
Job Satisfaction
This Sunday, I will speak on the subject of job satisfaction. What does the Bible say about job satisfaction? Is it possible to be satisfied with work? Why do we have to work in the first place? Why can’t we just sit around and eat grapes all day? Well, you just can’t, and that’s all I’m gonna say about it for now. You will have to show up on Sunday to hear the rest.
Unfortunately for Chikezie, my previous post was right. Chikezie was just too cheesey the other night. He’s a nice guy, and I’m sure he will probably get a record deal with someone. However, his time was up.
Musical Bypasses
At a very early age, I had a procedures performed on my body. It was a musical bypass. I have virtually no musical ability. In Seminary we had to take a Musical Leadership class. It was an “Easy A.” I made a B. When I was in the sixth grade I was asked by our chorus teacher not to sing at our big chorus competition. Out of about sixty 6th and 7th graders, he asked four of us not to sing. Of the other three, one was my twin sister. Maybe, it’s genetic.
Since we started Summit, I have had to be involved in the oversight of the band. Gradually, I have turned most of the responsibility over to Phillip. I had no idea how complicated it is to put together a band. Phillip is looking for the right mix of instruments and voices. He hears stuff that I don’t. He is extremely talented musically. I trust his judgment.
However, I am willing to go out on a limb and make a musical prediction. Are you ready? Chikezie gets voted off tonight.
Snow Way!
Jimmy and I were driving into Atlanta today and I thought the blooms were blowing off the dogwood trees. Jimmy informed me that it was snowing. Unbelievable! Will it ever get warm and stay warm? I am concerned. We are going to have our first baptismal service at John Tanner State Park on April 27. That’s five weeks from yesterday. Thirty four days for the water in the Lake to warm up. I’m praying for warm weather with plenty of sunshine with above average rain (I thought I had better add the rain in there).
Awesome Day
Today was awesome. Our volunteers were incredible. The band was the best its ever been. We had 253 people in attendance. We celebrated the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Wow! I can’t wait to see what’s next.
Easter Update
Easter is going to be a big day. We have been encouraging our members and attenders to invite their friends and family. If you know someone who is far from God, this Sunday would be an ideal day for them to be in church. The band is going to be great. Phillip has some awesome songs lined up. The message is going to be very clear. “What Does it Take to Satisfy God?” How can I know that when I die God will be so satisfied with me that He will let me come into Heaven? The answer is worth knowing.
In anticipation of Easter, we have done some advertising. We have worked with Inbox Promotions to send out close to 300,000 e-mails. These e-mails resulted in over 1,000 new people visiting our website. Also, we currently have a radio commercial airing on J93.3. Yesterday, I had a young lady get in touch with us by e-mail and by phone call. She had heard our commercial and wanted to know how to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. During a conversation over the phone, she prayed to receive Jesus into her life. Advertising does work! This young lady’s eternity has been changed. I pray that this was only a sample of what our service will be like on Sunday. Pray hard!
Grandpa for a Day
My fifteen year old son brought home a fake baby in a car seat the other day. It was a school assignment. The baby cried. She had to be fed with a fake bottle. Her diaper had to be changed. She slept with her eyes open. I’m glad I never got into the “Chuckie” movies or I would have probably had a hard time going to sleep.
This baby serves as a deterent for teen pregnancy. I think it works extremely well. However, it’s hard to build any natural attachment to a creepy looking baby doll that sleeps with her eyes open.
I love my four kids. It’s great to see them go through the various stages of childhood. I’m glad they all dress themselves, and they all sleep with their eyes closed.
