Church Tomorrow

I see that the weather guys are calling for some snow tomorrow. We will still have service tomorrow at 10:00 at the mall. I hope to see everyone there.

Sunday Rewind 2-22-09

I am so thankful for the volunteers that show up every Sunday morning and do such an outstanding job. Everything went extremely well Sunday morning. Our attendance was down, but I think that can be attributed to sickness and school holidays coming to an end.

The staff is going to a church planters conference on Monday and Tuesday in Cumming. I can’t wait. They have a stellar line-up of speakers who have actually done what they are going to be talking about. This should be a great week!

2-15-09 sunday rewind

Sunday was a solid day. Several families were out of town but it was still a good day. I spoke on the topic of  Sanctification. This is the second part of a three part series on Doctrine in Disguise. It’s important to know what we believe. It is also important to present it in a way that is relevant and interesting.

Sunday night Stephanie and I spoke at our Valentine’s Banquet. We had a great turn out and great Italian food. I really enjoy speaking with Stephanie. She has a lot of wisdom and practical advice when it comes to love and marriage (and a lot of other things too).

We have around 20 students signed up for the D-Now weekend. It should be a blast. The boys are staying at the Lamb’s house and the girls will be at the Garrett’s. The topic for the weekend will be Spiritual Warfare.

In a couple of weeks I am going to start a series on Israel’s Place in History. I am really looking forward to this series. We are going to talk about the origins of the Jewish people, God’s purpose for the Jewish nation and what the future holds for the nation of Israel today. It should be interesting!

Sunday Rewind

  • We started a three week series on Doctrine. I’m calling it Doctrine in Disguise. Sunday was Justification (getting right with God). God is the Judge. We will all stand before Him. How can I be right with the Judge? Well, that’s what Justification is all about. If you know someone who is thinking about becoming a believer then you might want them to listen to this message. It is available on our website at www.summit411.com
  • We had a good attendance.
  • The band and the sound were awesome. Jake and David did a wonderful job with the sound. Phillip continues to soar as a worship leader.
  • Adam is working like a madman with the setup and tear down. He has really stepped up for the church.
  • Children’s and Nursery workers are fantastic! The theater is not an ideal environment for children’s ministry, but these volunteers are making it work. Thanks!
  • Valentine’s Banquest is this Sunday night. Stephanie and I are speaking on the topic of LOVE! I can’t wait. It will be an Italian theme night.

Sunday Stuff

  • Yesterday was one of those days when I didn’t feel the message as much as I wanted. However, for some the message on doubt really struck a chord. Sometimes our experiences in life lead us to doubt God’s power and His care. At such times, questions like “Have I missed it?” or “ Am I out of God’s favor?” go through our minds at lightning speed. However, we have to get back to what we know is certain about God. Otherwise, we give into doubt and despair and we feel as though we have no where else to turn.
  • On a lighter note, I really enjoy being around the set up and tear down team. These guys are awesome. They are crucial to what we do as a church.
  • As usual, the band was on. Phillip is a great musician who is turning into a great worship leader.
  • Our nursery and children’s ministry volunteers are the unsung heroes at Summit. They are impacting the next generation.
  • The Parent/Youth football game went as expected. It was not even close. The parents won pretty easily. I heard a little bit of whinning. We had a great turn out! I’m not near as sore as I thought that I would be.
