November 1 recap
It’s one of those times when it seems like God is doing some great stuff in people’s lives. He is stirring the hearts of people in a good way. I have more expectancy that God is going to do something than I think I have had in all of my life. I don’t know what it will be but He has put us in a position where He will receive the glory.
Sunday was a wonderful day. God met our need in a big way. Financially, we have been hurting as a church. Many of our members and regular attenders have been adversely affected by the bad economy. As a consequence, giving has suffered. However, last week we had our biggest offering ever. It was over $16,000. Praise God!
The message Sunday centered around not forgetting what life is all about. God is at work even in the difficulties of life. He has a plan and that plan is to conform us to the image of Jesus Christ. For that to happen a lot of stuff has to change in our lives. It’s the changing that hurts. Sometimes God uses events and circumstances that are not of our choosing to bring about necessary change in our lives. It is painful but the benefits are well worth it.
October 18 and 25 recap
- The last two Sundays have been awesome worship experiences. It’s amazing how God is moving in the lives of some of the people who attend Summit.
- The theater continues to be a great place for worship. I love the way the band has been sounding lately.
- We went “old school” at the end of the service with “Shout to the Lord.” Wow! I have heard from several people that it was one of the best worship experiences they have ever had.
- On Saturday night, the Youth had a hay ride and movie night at the Garrett’s. It was cold and they watched the movie outside on a sheet hung between two trees. Forty four youth showed up. Amazing! Everyone seemed to have had a great time and a special thanks goes out to all the Adult volunteers who made the night possible.
- Sunday after worship service, we had a “bring your own lunch” picnic at Clinton Farms. It was a blast. I enjoy hanging out with the folks at Summit. Great days are ahead!
October 4 and 11 Recap
- The last two Sundays have been solid. We continued our series in Hebrews. It’s an incredible book.
- Phillip and the band have sounded great! Phillip will complete his degree in Worship Leadership from New Orleans Seminary later this year. He will be a unique combination of a contemporary musician with a seminary degree.
- Our Small Groups Pastor, Kevin Neufeld, has recently spent a couple of days in the hospital with heart issues. Hopefully, the problems he is experiencing can be corrected with medication. Please pray for Kevin.
- We have been meeting in the Regal Cinemas for two years this past Sunday. The location has some incredible advantages as a worship venue. However, it is a challenge with children’s ministry. Stay tuned!
Return to Blogging
- Sunday was an incredibly encouraging day. God really got hold of some lives in a good way.
- Attendance was steady and the offering was good. We continue to have new people in attendance.
- The band gets better and better. Phillip has emerged as a fantastic worship leader.
- I heard that Kidz Rock had a good crowd.
- Last week about 15 of our teenagers went to Austell and worked cleaning out a basement that had been flooded with a lot of nasty stuff. They did a great job!
- Small groups should be able to get back on track this week. Some of the groups have yet to meet during the new semester due to flu and flood.
- In October, we are going to challenge our members to invite atleast one friend to Summit during the month.
- I believe that God is really moving in the lives of some of the people who attend Summit. It is neat to see it happen.
- Can’t wait til next Sunday!
